Visit Reykjanesbær

Events and festivals

Reykjanesbær has a vibrant cultural life with a large number of events, and festivals all year round.

Every year the children’s art festival is held here, and once a year there is a great opportunity to familiarise yourself and explore the local museums during the annual museum weekend in the south, on that weekend there is no entrance fee and everyone is welcome. Hljómahöll holds regular concerts featuring Iceland’s most popular artists as well as artists from around the world. It makes sense to check out the Icelandic museum of rock and roll while you are there.

The biggest event is the town festival Ljósanótt (the night of lights), which is held the first weekend in September every year, on this day we celebrate the light that illuminates the long dark winter days. It is an event visited by people all over the country.
