Local history museum

The exhibitions of the Reykjanesbær Regional Museum are in Duushúsar. The aim of the exhibitions is to understand the history of the town and create a bridge between the past and the present. Special emphasis is placed on highlighting the characteristics of the area.

The Regional Museum preserves over 20,000 artefacts and 100,000 photographs that provide a unique insight into the history of Reykjanesbær. The collection options are varied. There you can find boats, cars, furniture, tools, toys, weapons, packaging, clothing and pictures to name a few. The museum carries out ambitious work with the aim of preserving, researching and disseminating the museum’s benefits so that the community can benefit.
